I met with new CMM missionaries Samuel and Martha Berberian, niece of Nate Saint, martyred in Ecuador in the 50’s. Samuel is well connected throughout the church and government in Guatemala. As founder and director of the Federico Crowe Institute in 1989, he oversees junior and senior high education on up to college degree and mastor’s and doctorate programs. One of his recent graduates is pastor of a church of over 6,000. In central America many of church pastors do not have a high school diploma and lack much higher education. Over 600 have graduated since the 1980’s and received a higher education. Samuel serves on the board of Christians who help the Israeli ambassador in Guatemala. Martha is an author and her and Samuel also teach in the largest university in Central America.
