Suzie Campana: Mission Statement
My purpose is to serve Women and Children in primarily in developing nations. I desire to provide maternal/infant healthcare and to help educate the same in basic public health in those countries. As a Certified Professional Midwife (CPM), I am able to be on staff with mission/humanitarian organizations; hence, enabling me to travel and serve in developing nations, as well as in the U.S.
In the summer I was asked to consider taking a position to help facilitate a clinic in the Philippines. This is the same ministry where I spent the summer of 2012 as an intern. While this is an incredible opportunity for me, it comes with much responsibility and so I took my time in making a decision.
Through much prayer and counsel sought from leadership, close friends and other midwives I have concluded that this is the right next step for me.
Brief history of the ministry
Abundant Grace of God Maternity was founded in 2007 by Georgia Gilliland Macad, CPM.
The main clinic is located in Tabuk, Kalinga Philippines. In 2012 they extended services to the mountains of Tinglayan with a new maternity center located in the village of Bugnay (about 5 hours from our Tabuk site).
The Bugnay clinic serves the five Butbut (pronounced ‘boot-boot’) villages of Upper Tinglayan, as well as other surrounding villages in the area. This area has a population of approximately 5,000 people. It is at the Bugnay clinic that I will be primarily working and facilitating at.
Abundant Grace is a charity ministry dedicated to providing prenatal, labor/birth and postpartum care. Continued health education outreaches and spiritual encouragement for expecting mothers that are critical aspects to the ministry. All services provided are free and so relies solely on private funding to operate.
Partnerships
I’m excited for this next season, but before I go I must raise the funds. As stated above the clinics provide all services free of charge and thus rely on private donations to continue the work. This also means that foreign staff such as myself, must have funding to be there. I want to invite you to partner with me to continue the amazing work already happening in the Philippines. Below are some of the ways you can help.
Other work of the ministry include:
- Providing hands-on training and discipleship for Filipino licensed and aspiring midwives.
- Encourage and aid local midwives currently working in Kalinga.
- Well-baby project: Community education basic supplies and support to the family with young children. Out reaches are done weekly in the communities and include; videos, games, projects, hands-on training and lectures. Topics and issues include; nutrition, medical emergencies, malaria and basic sanitation.
