The Generational Mandate To Fulfill The Great Commission
by Jorge Parrott
The beauty of God’s faithfulness and unending love permeates his living word and vibrates through the ages. Look at Mark 16:15-18: “And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues;they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”As we prepare for The 50+ Joshua Generation Conference I am reminded of the faithfulness of saints who went before us to pave the way. From our own parents, grandparents, friends, teachers, missionary pioneers, evangelists, and many more who prayed for us, for our generation, and most of all, Jesus Christ himself who paid the price for our salvation and our lives. Truly, we live by the grace of the living God. Every breath is a precious gift.
MorningStar, CMM and our faithful Partners have a rich legacy handed to us. It is inspiring and encouraging for us to carry on in the holy steps of our Christian walk. Rick Joyner has sought the Lord for forty years and had amazing encounters leading to a prolific authoring of many anointed books which touching many nations. The anointing upon Rick’s life has attracted some of the most gifted teachers, preachers, prophets, and artists of our time to sow and impart much into CMM and MorningStar Conferences, MSU, and all aspects of the ministry.
With over 500 Missionary Leaders in 50 nations there is a myriad of opportunities for our dear Partners to experience the faith realm where the Lord waits for hearts made available for the Lord to work his miraculous ways to conform us into his image.
The dedicated work of all our staff over the years has welcomed thousands and thousands from the nations of the earth as we all seek the Lord in deeper ways, growing in intimacy and seeing a steady increase in the supernatural and empowering work of the Holy Spirit to bring great freedom and the release of destinies in thousands of friends of MorningStar. Many agree that our best days are ahead as we are strengthened by the Lord in the five-fold ministry for the battles ahead. We need the Holy Spirit more and more in the days ahead.
Many are not aware of the history of many great saints who were part of CMM or are now. Sidney and Helen Correll were raised up, trained, graduated by and married by Aimee Semple McPherson in the early 1920’s. I spoke to Aimee’s son, Rolph, about ten years ago. Some of the Correll family have shared how Aimee wanted Sidney Correll to take over her ministry in the 1940’s and Sidney declined, saying he was called into missions.
Sidney and Helen traveled to about 100 nations raising up native pastors, planting churches, and discipling many worldwide. They knew many of the great revivalists that are famous for mass crusades, healing ministries, and evangelism. Alfred Garr Sr. who Steve Thompson wrote the book about called, “The 20th Century Apostle”, was mentored by Sidney Correll and on the board of CMM from its beginning until he went home to glory. Around 2004 the nieces of Nate Saint, who was martyred in Ecuador in the 1950’s, brought their ministry under the umbrella of CMM. They minister in Guatemala and Argentina. The grandson of Derek Prince, Peter Wyns, came under CMM when he moved from Canada about that time as well. The stories go on and on and now the mantle of these great missionaries and teachers falls to us to help reach future generations with the love of the heart of the Father through Jesus Christ, empowered by the Holy Spirit to help fulfill The Great Commission.
Now the ‘ball is in our court.’ How are we to carry on and fulfill the vision and heartbeat of the Lord to reach the lost, disciple the saints, and bring unity and maturity to the coming ‘spotless bride’ to see the Lord Jesus come again triumphantly? Will we part of Jesus’ last unanswered prayer that he prayed in John 17?
Let’s look in Hebrews 11:37-40 to burn brighter with passion for the heart of God to ignite us who are in the 50+ Joshua Generation as we prepare for the upcoming season. We read in Hebrews 11 about the ‘heroes of the faith’. Each one mentioned is noted for doing something no one had ever done before.
“They were stoned, they were sawn in two, were tempted, were slain with the sword. They wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins, being destitute, afflicted, tormented—of whom the world was not worthy. They wandered in deserts and mountains, in dens and caves of the earth. And all these, having obtained a good testimony through faith, did not receive the promise,God having provided something better for us, that they should not be made perfect apart from us”.
Lord, help us grasp this generational mandate that rings through the ages. Will Jesus find faith on the earth when he returns? May we encourage each other in the days ahead to challenge, to pray for, to stand with in times of trial and persecution to be faithful and bold in our faith as we walk in the fullness of the joy of the Lord. We can speak to and prophesy to each other that our best days are ahead of us.
