We are called to raise up and equip fruitful leaders for strategic impact in the nations of the earth. How do we find and discern the future leaders the Lord directs us to sow into? Faith entails risk with action. We sow seeds daily and in many lives trusting the Lord by his Holy Spirit to show us his strategies from heaven. While we tend to look for those who have demonstrated lasting fruit in one of the seven mountains of influence in society how many gems might we miss when we look for those that fit into our ‘box’ of preconceived ideas of what makes a leader?

Is there a formula for equipping a nation changer? In Isaiah 55:8 we learn ““For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord.” Matthew 6:33 exhorts us “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” Being led by the Holy Spirit opens up realms of possibilities to see what the Lord sees in his people who he created who are full of destiny and purpose.

Jesus picked an unlikely and unqualified ‘rag-tag’ bunch of disciples and changed the world through them.  In the Dominican Republic unlikely heroes of the faith in our precious missionary network have labored faithfully and produced amazing fruit. The Lord loves to surprise us. Veronica Freites, our first ‘sent one’ to go there has accomplished much.  Ten years ago the Lord used her to win the former Secretary of State and his wife to the Lord. Two years ago one of our MSU College of Theology students had a vision where the Lord used him to win the President of the nation to Jesus and it happened.

Hab. 1:5 proclaims “Look among the nations and watch—Be utterly astounded! For I will work a work in your daysWhich you would not believe, though it were told you.”

Flowing in the Prophetic and being sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit shows us surprising results and can reveal to those on the look-out the yet unnoticed ‘Davids, Daniels, or Josephs, or Billy Grahams, Bobby Connors, Reinhard Bonnkes, Todd Bentleys ’ or so many other amazing, surprising friends of the Lord if we just allow the Lord to remove our own blinders and preconceived lenses of what makes one of his generals who are effective and fruitful leaders.

Equipping Diverse Leaders In The Dominican Republic

Recently we were blessed once again to travel to the Dominican Republic to further explore all the Lord is doing there through our long term and fruitful missionaries and students of MSU College of Theology.  In order of length of time we have known these effective leaders, each working with their own unique styles and personalities are: Veronica Freites, Jose and Jacqueline Javier, Victor Rodriguez and Hipolito Pena.

Veronica Frietes was born in the DR and grew up in the US. We sent her there in 2000. She first established an inner city church to the urban poor and also has a work in the Bani area ninety minutes from the capitol of Santo Domingo. She also works with UNICEF in training midwives in many hospitals. Veronica introduced us to Jose and Jacqueline, who often host MorningStar/CM Missions teams who visit the DR.

Victor Rodriquez is a skilled interpreter and author who helped us immensely after the Haiti earthquake of 2010 to shuttle teams and millions in aid across the border to deliver to our friends in Haiti following, even when the Port Au Prince airport was closed right after the quake. The six hour journey was rife with danger, hazards and rampant corruption at the border and in Haiti.

Numerous times while riding with Victor I recall being threatened or detained by real and sometimes false border guards, demands to hand over our passports, speeding off from border patrol guards yelling at us to stop, demanding we pay bribes, and even one time when Victor was hauled off to a dark house by thugs for thirty minutes while my wife and I sat in the car praying in tongues for his release.

Hipolito Pena is a major fashion designer trained in the Word and the Prophetic by Sandra Quesada, our Hispanic Overseer and teacher in the MSU Hispanic College of Theology. Sandra is much loved around MorningStar as she has touched many lives with her genuine sincerity speaking the truth in love. Sandra patiently and diligently taught Hipolito in hearing the voice of the Lord through four years of study in earning his Doctoral Degree of Theology from our school. Sandra did this sowing into Hipolito’s life long distance, by Skype, emails and phone calls mentoring him in his pursuit of the Lord.

Growing and Learning Through A Great Trial

Hipolito’s wife was the only advanced neurosurgeon in the Dominican Republic at the time before she suffered a massive stroke seven years ago. Hipolito cried out to the Lord. Through this trial he was broken before the Lord. His wife is still an invalid awaiting her miracle healing from the Lord. Hipolito started a church near his fashion and clothing store to seek the Lord and have fellowship with believers in his circle of friends. Through his ministry and prophetic gifting he has attracted key leaders in business and government to his church for fellowship and worship and teaching.

Hipolito’s hunger for more of the Lord propelled him into many heavenly encounters and visions, one even being where the Lord showed him he would use Hipolito to win the President of the nation to Jesus and in the vision how the President would hug him three times after he received Jesus. This came to pass exactly as the Lord showed Hipolito. The Lord later spoke to Hipolito how he would prophesy to the President that he would win re-election.  The President told Hipolito that was not possible due to term limits. Within a few months the government changed the law allowing him to run for re-election and he won by a large margin in May of 2016.

Blessed Is The Nation Whose God Is The Lord

President Danilo Medina has an impressive track record of godly change in his nation. During his first term he led the way in building two thousand five hundred new public schools and led the nation with annual GDP growth exceeding six percent annually. Efforts by pro-life groups led to the successful outlawing of abortion as well.

This trip included our second Prophetic Round Table where a team of eight MFM members all got to share from their hearts what the Lord is speaking to this nation. We were blessed to meet several Ambassadors of the government along with prophesying to the President’s family and their children. This was a special time for us to bless the immediate family of the President. The Lord continues to open surprising doors and gives us amazing opportunities to speak into the leaders of various nations and their families. We give God all the glory as we are humbled and privileged to be Heaven’s messengers of fire in many lands.

One of the Ambassadors shared how last year we gave him a word about his visa issue with the United States. At that time he was stationed in Canada and was refused entry due to a visa issue. He asked us to pray and I was led to speak to him of not only an approval but an upgrade coming soon. Within weeks he was granted a diplomatic visa reserved for Ambassador ranking.  One of our Ambassador friends has asked our help in launching an MSU College of Theology Hispanic satellite school in Boston. The Lord is moving all over the earth and MorningStar’s unique Prophetic culture and environment is raising up many who are sent to the nations to release ‘meat in due season’ and help bring cultural transformation for the  glory of our King.

We invite you to ‘look at what the Lord has done’ at our web site at and ‘like’ and ‘follow’ us on Pray and as the Lord leads sow financially into our Urgent Needs fund helping our precious friends in our network serving in many nations and some in very dangerous situations at
