Salted Together: The Unbreakable Covenant

By Kevin Porter

CMM Ordained Ministers Are “Salted Together”

Greetings to all our precious brothers and sisters in the CMM Oasis of Ordained Ministers. As we faithfully pray for one another and celebrate the beautiful diversity and unique giftings within this family, we bless you with every spiritual blessing from the Father. Truly, we are fearfully and wonderfully made.

Jesus Teaches on the Kingdom of God

“The former account I made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and teach… speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God.”
Acts 1:1–3, NKJV

After His resurrection, Jesus continued teaching His disciples about the Kingdom of God. Throughout the Gospels, He proclaimed the Kingdom and revealed Himself as the rightful King. Yet Israel rejected both the King and His Kingdom. Had they received Him, history would look dramatically different—including the conflicts we still see in the Middle East today.

Still, Jesus prepared His disciples to carry the Kingdom forward in authority, unity, and power.

The Meaning of Being “Salted Together”

“And being assembled together (Grk. SUNALIZOMAI) with them, He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem…”
Acts 1:4–5, NKJV

The Greek word SUNALIZOMAI, commonly translated “assembled together,” comes from the root HALAS, meaning salt. This reveals a powerful truth:

**Jesus and His disciples entered a salt covenant—

they were literally salted together.**

In biblical culture, a salt covenant represents permanence, loyalty, and an unbreakable bond. Jesus was declaring a spiritual unity between Himself and His followers—one that could not be dissolved.

He then pointed them to the next step of that covenant relationship: the Promise of the Father, the baptism in the Holy Spirit.

“He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.”
Matthew 3:11, NKJV

Clothed With Power From On High

“Behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon you… until you are endued (Grk. ENDUO—clothed) with power from on high.”
Luke 24:49, NKJV

Jesus Himself would clothe His disciples with:

1. Righteousness

The pure garment prepared for the wedding feast of the Lamb (Matt. 22:11).

2. Prayer Covering

The mantle or “prayer shawl” of Messiah, symbolized in Matthew 14:36.

3. Victory

The white garments of the overcomers (Rev. 3:5), made possible because:

“He became sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.”
2 Corinthians 5:21

When we pray in tongues, we are spiritually wrapping ourselves in Jesus’ prayer shawl—covering ourselves in the presence, authority, and intercession of Christ.

And to think—many believe they are “just speaking in tongues.” The reality is far deeper.

The Call to Live as Those Who Are Salted Together

As CMM Ordained Ministers, we are more than a fellowship. We are a salt covenant community, strengthened by the Spirit and united in Kingdom purpose.

To be salted together means:

  • We share an unbreakable bond in Christ.
  • We carry His purity and flavor to the world.
  • We preserve truth in a time of spiritual decay.
  • We walk in the same power that fueled the early Church.

May we continue to walk as those who are salted together—unified, empowered, and devoted wholly to the King and His Kingdom.
