URGENT: Help Bring Relief to Flood Victims in Nepal

A catastrophic flash flood devastated communities across Nepal after a massive collapse of ice, rock, and debris near the Nepal-Tibet border on August 26.

The human toll is staggering.

As of August 28, Nepal’s National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority reports that 579 people have died and 1,924 people remain missing in Nepal alone. In addition, more than 500 foreign nationals remain unaccounted for.

Unfortunately, these numbers continue to change as rescue workers reach devastated and previously inaccessible areas.

Behind every number is a person—a mother or father, a son or daughter, a friend or neighbor. Families are grieving, while others desperately wait for news of missing loved ones. At the same time, thousands of survivors face the loss of homes, possessions, livelihoods, and entire communities.

Pastor Dhan and His Team Are Already There

In the midst of this tragedy, Pastor Dhan and his ministry team are already on the ground in Nepal, helping people affected by the disaster.

CMM World Missions is coming alongside Pastor Dhan and his team so they can provide urgently needed assistance to the families and communities they serve.

This local presence is especially important because the flood destroyed roads and bridges throughout the region. As a result, rescue teams struggle to reach many affected communities. However, local ministry partners such as Pastor Dhan already have established relationships within these communities. Therefore, they can help direct assistance to people who desperately need it.

Floodwaters Have Devastated Entire Communities

The flood sent an enormous surge of water, mud, rock, ice, and debris through river valleys from the Nepal-Tibet border into Nepal.

As the floodwaters swept downstream, they destroyed or buried homes, businesses, roads, bridges, and other critical infrastructure. The disaster also severely damaged hydroelectric facilities and electrical infrastructure.

Meanwhile, thousands of rescue and security personnel continue to search for survivors. Rescue teams are also using helicopters and other resources to deliver assistance to communities cut off by the destruction.

However, the danger has not completely passed. Authorities continue to monitor unstable river conditions and the possibility of additional flooding. Consequently, rescue workers face extremely difficult and dangerous conditions as they search for survivors and bring assistance to isolated communities.

Eleven Churches and Their Congregations Need Help

Pastor Dhan reports that the flooding directly affected 11 churches and their congregations.

These churches represent much more than buildings. They provide places where believers worship together, pray together, encourage one another, and minister to their surrounding communities.

Right now, however, the first priority is helping people survive. Families urgently need food, medical assistance, shelter, and other basic necessities.

After the immediate emergency passes, these churches and families will face another enormous challenge: rebuilding their lives and communities. Therefore, CMM wants to stand with them through both the immediate crisis and the recovery that follows.

Our Immediate Goal: $30,000 in Emergency Relief

Pastor Dhan and his team have identified three areas where they urgently need assistance:

CMM Receives Candid (formerly GuideStar) 2026 Platinum Award for Financial Transparency
CMM is an organization you can trust.

$10,000 — Emergency Food

Many families have lost their homes, possessions, and access to normal sources of food. Therefore, these funds will help Pastor Dhan’s team provide emergency food and essential supplies to affected families.

$7,500 — First Aid and Medical Supplies

Injuries and disrupted medical services have created an urgent need for first aid materials and basic medical supplies. Consequently, part of our relief effort will focus on getting these essential supplies into the hands of people who need them.

$12,500 — Temporary Shelter and Transportation

Many families who lost their homes now need tents and other forms of temporary shelter. In addition, Pastor Dhan’s team needs transportation to move people and relief supplies into areas where damaged roads and bridges have disrupted normal access.

Total Immediate Nepal Flood Relief Goal: $30,000

These are the needs Pastor Dhan and his team face right now. However, as they learn more about the extent of the destruction, they may identify additional needs for longer-term recovery and rebuilding.

You Can Help Today

When disaster strikes on this scale, the needs can seem overwhelming. However, we do not have to meet every need in order to make a meaningful difference.

We can help the people God has placed within our reach.

Through our relationship with Pastor Dhan and his ministry team, CMM has an opportunity to help people who desperately need food, medical supplies, shelter, and hope.

Together, we can make a difference.

First, Please Pray

Please pray for the families who have lost loved ones. In addition, pray for those who are still waiting for news about someone who is missing.

Pray for families who have lost their homes, businesses, possessions, and livelihoods.

Also, pray for the thousands of rescue workers who continue to serve under extremely difficult and dangerous conditions.

Please remember the pastors, churches, and Christian families affected by the disaster as well.

Most importantly, please pray for Pastor Dhan and his team. Ask God to protect and strengthen them. Pray that He gives them wisdom and leads them to the people who most urgently need help.

Second, Please Give

We are asking our CMM family, friends, churches, and ministry partners to help us raise $30,000 for immediate Nepal flood relief.

Your gift can help us provide:

  • Food for families who have lost everything
  • First aid and essential medical supplies
  • Temporary shelter for displaced families
  • Transportation for people and relief supplies
  • Practical assistance to churches and believers affected by the disaster

Whether you give $25, $100, $500, $1,000, or more, every gift becomes part of a larger response of compassion from the Body of Christ.

Moreover, when we give together, even modest individual gifts can become significant resources for Pastor Dhan and his team.

Standing Together With Nepal

This crisis gives the Church an opportunity to demonstrate the love of Christ not only through our words, but also through compassionate action.

Pastor Dhan and his team are already there.

The need is immediate.

Together, we can help them respond.

Therefore, please join CMM World Missions as we stand with the people of Nepal during this extraordinary crisis.

Please pray for Nepal. Then, if God leads you to help financially, give generously so Pastor Dhan and his team can continue bringing practical assistance and hope to people devastated by this disaster.

Pray. Give. Help bring hope to Nepal.
