💔 From Captivity to Courage
In central India, Pastor Joy leads a courageous ministry that has rescued 26 young women from the grip of sex trafficking.
Each of these Girls of Joy once lived in unimaginable bondage. Many were sold by their families — some as young as six years old — often to local Hindu temples for the equivalent of just $500 USD.
Once handed over, their futures were sealed. In their culture, there was no return. Their dignity, identity, and hope were stripped away. They were expected to live out their days as slaves — without the dream of marriage, family, or freedom.
But then, Jesus stepped in through the faith and courage of Pastor Joy and her team.
These girls were rescued, redeemed, and introduced to a Savior who calls them beloved daughters.
🙏 Living in Hiding, Yet Shining with Hope
Freedom brought new challenges — and dangers. In their culture, escaping bondage brought “shame” upon their families, and some relatives even placed contracts on their lives.
To protect them, Pastor Joy established a safe home in a hidden location, far from their original villages. Here, the girls live in safety, many without legal papers, their identities known only to a trusted few.
Yet even in secrecy, their faith has flourished. Recently, six of the girls journeyed to remote mountain villages to share the Gospel — and over 100 people came to Christ in just two days!
Their hearts now burn with passion to see others set free — body, soul, and spirit.
🧵 The Sewing Enterprise: A Path Toward Freedom
These brave young women are now ready to take the next step toward independence:
learning a trade that restores dignity and self-reliance.
Ten girls are eager to begin professional sewing training — a three-month course taught by a local seamstress.
The entire program costs just $600 total (about $200 per month for all participants).
Each sewing machine costs around $200, and once training is complete, they’ll need fabric and basic supplies to begin producing and selling garments.
