Powerful Testimonies from a Christian Mission Trip to Costa Rica | CMM Missions Network
by David Bates
In February 2026, a small team from our network traveled to Costa Rica for a week of ministry, prayer, and outreach. These Christian mission trip testimonies reminded us of something Jesus declared long ago:
“The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few.” — Matthew 9:37
The need for Spirit-filled missionaries and ministry teams around the world remains immense. What we witnessed during this trip was a powerful reminder that when believers step out in faith to serve, God moves in remarkable ways.
The stories below are just a few of the Christian mission trip testimonies that emerged from our time in Costa Rica.
Encouragement and Healing for a Faithful Pastor
One of the first testimonies shared during our team debriefing involved Pastor Francisco. Prior to our arrival, he had been suffering from serious issues affecting both his eyesight and his physical strength.
When the team visited and prayed with him, the presence of God touched him deeply. By the time we gathered again later in the week, those close to him noticed a visible improvement in both his eyesight and overall energy.
What began as a simple prayer became a moment of encouragement and renewal for a local shepherd who has faithfully served his community for more than 40 years.
Moments like this are among the most meaningful Christian mission trip testimonies—when God strengthens those who have spent their lives strengthening others.
Freedom from Depression Through Prayer
At a celebration gathering for Pastor Francisco, Kathy Barber encountered a large, muscular man who was quietly battling deep depression and spiritual oppression.
As Kathy prayed in the Spirit and gently led him through repentance and forgiveness, something remarkable happened. The man began to weep openly as the emotional weight he had been carrying broke off him.
Freedom entered the room as the love of God touched his heart.
Kathy also prayed for his wife and their son, who had been suffering from bullying. What began as a single moment of prayer became ministry for an entire family.
Stories like these are powerful Christian mission trip testimonies of how God meets people in their deepest moments of need.
A Young Boy Healed Before Scheduled Surgery
Throughout the trip, God continued to demonstrate His compassion through healing and prophetic encouragement.
John Barber prayed for a young boy who had been struggling with severe knee pain. As prayer was offered, the boy suddenly experienced healing and regained full movement without pain.
Moments later he was shouting and praising God for what had just happened.
The boy had been scheduled for knee surgery only two days later. Instead, the Great Physician intervened.
Glory to God.
These kinds of Christian mission trip testimonies remind us that God is still actively working in the lives of people today.
Ministry at a Drug Rehabilitation Center
One of the most moving moments of the trip occurred during an outreach at a local drug rehabilitation center.
Several team members described sensing the presence of Jesus—the Good Shepherd—ministering to the men there. Many received prayer for restoration, freedom, and renewed purpose.
After sharing testimonies and praying together, several of the men wanted to tell us what the visit meant to them.
One man told us that this was the best day he had ever experienced in his life.
Through tears he explained that, for the first time, he felt that God remembered him. During the prayer time he received a vision of how he wanted to live his life moving forward—to be moved by the love of God and to reach other broken people just as he had been reached.
Moments like that leave you speechless.
Just… wow.
Prophetic Words Fulfilled
Another powerful aspect of these Christian mission trip testimonies involved prophetic words that had been spoken during previous ministry trips.

On several occasions, people approached our team to share how those prophetic words had been fulfilled in their lives.
One woman shared that two years earlier she had received a prophecy that God would give her a children’s ministry.
Shortly afterward, Samaritan’s Purse approached her and invited her to serve as the Operation Christmas Child representative for the San Carlos region of Costa Rica.
Today she distributes Operation Christmas Child gifts each year as part of a growing children’s ministry outreach.
During our meeting this year, the boxes for the upcoming celebration were already stacked in the back of the room.
Yay God!
The Ongoing Impact of Missions
Through the gift of prophecy and words of knowledge on these trips, we have seen incredible fruit.
Families restored.
Ministries launched.
Children born after prayer.
People activated in their spiritual gifts.
Churches revitalized.
Bodies healed.
Children baptized.
Homes built.
Evangelists released.
These Christian mission trip testimonies remind us of a powerful truth: when we simply make ourselves available to the Lord, He does the work.
He provides.
He heals.
He moves.
All He asks is for willing hearts.
Missions Is About Relationships
Another theme that emerged during the trip was the relational impact of missions.
Several team members reconnected with people they had met during previous visits to Costa Rica. Seeing familiar faces again brought deep joy to both the team and the local believers.
These moments remind us that missions is not only about events or outreach activities.
It is about relationships that carry the love of Christ across cultures, languages, and generations.
Why Christian Missions Still Matter
As the team reflected together, one truth became clear:
There are people around the world who are waiting for someone to come and carry the presence of God to them.
A simple prayer.
A prophetic word of encouragement.
An act of compassion.
These small moments can shift the trajectory of a life, a family, or even an entire community.
These Christian mission trip testimonies from Costa Rica remind us that mission work still matters deeply.
When we go, we bring hope.
When we pray, heaven responds.
And when we partner together as a missions family, the gospel continues to advance.
The Harvest Fields Are Ready
May these testimonies encourage each of us to remain faithful to the call—to love, equip, connect, and send messengers of fire to the nations.
The harvest fields are ready.
Blessings in Christ.
