✨ Girls of Joy — A New Beginning Through the Sewing Enterprise
💔 From Captivity to Courage
Many of you already know something about Pastor Joy’s courageous ministry in central India, but her story — and that of the 26 young women she has rescued — deserves to be told again.
Each of these girls once lived under unimaginable bondage in the sex trafficking trade. Most were sold by their families — some as young as six years old — often to local Hindu temples, for the equivalent of about $500 USD.
Once handed over, their fate was sealed. In their culture, there is no return. Their identities, futures, and dignity were stripped away. They were expected to live out their days as slaves — without hope of marriage, family, or a future.
But then, Jesus stepped in through the faith and courage of Pastor Joy and her team.
These girls were rescued, redeemed, and introduced to a Savior who calls them beloved daughters.
🙏 Living in Hiding, Yet Shining with Hope
Freedom brought new dangers.
When the girls escaped, they brought what their culture calls “shame” and “dishonor” upon their families — simply for refusing a life of bondage. Some families even placed contracts on their lives.
To protect them, Pastor Joy established a safe home in a secret location, far from their original villages.
Here, the girls are hidden in safety, many without legal papers, their identities known only to a trusted few.
Yet even in their secrecy, their faith has flourished. Recently, six of the girls courageously journeyed to remote mountain villages to share the gospel — and over 100 people came to Christ in just two days!
Their hearts burn with passion to see others set free — body, soul, and spirit.
🧵 The Sewing Enterprise — A Path Toward Freedom
Now, these brave young women are ready to take their next step:
learning a trade that will empower them to live independently and rebuild their lives with dignity.
Ten of the girls are eager to begin sewing training. This three-month course, taught by a local seamstress, will cost just $600 in total — about $200 per month for all participants.
Each sewing machine costs around $200, and once the training is complete, they’ll need fabric and supplies to begin producing and selling garments.
Pastor Joy and several local women will oversee the enterprise, ensuring the project’s integrity, accountability, and long-term success.
This is more than a business — it’s a ministry of restoration. Every stitch represents hope reborn.
🌸 A Call to Live Again
After enduring years of isolation and fear — especially after the brutal attack on Mary, one of the Pastor’s wives, last year — these young women are ready to step out in faith once more.
Starting this sewing business will reintroduce them to their communities and help them reclaim their place in society.
They are determined to move forward — to work, create, and bless others — just as Christ has blessed them.
“If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.” — 2 Corinthians 5:17
Jesus has given them a clean start. They are washed by His redeeming blood, radiant with His love, and ready to shine His light.
Now, they just need a hand up — not a handout.
